This international internship program organized by the University College Dublin offers students an opportunity to gain an understanding of the global workplace through a professional internship experience in Ireland.
Students who participate on the program through International Academic Programs enroll in the Irish History track program. Students interested in the International Business track program should apply through International Programs at the Wisconsin School of Business.
Ireland`s capital is Dublin, a cosmopolitan, Georgian city on the eastern coast of Ireland. As a capital city, Dublin offers a great variety of amenities, including theatres, cinemas and parks. However, given its relatively small size, the city can be easily navigated. There are train links to Belfast in Northern Ireland, Galway in the west of Ireland and Cork in the south.
Towards the end of the nineteenth century, Dublin became the center of two great cultural movements - the Gaelic League, aimed at restoring the Irish Language, and the Irish Literary Renaissance. Ireland became a republic in 1949 and Dublin is now the thriving capital of this independent country and the center of the political, diplomatic, administrative and commercial life. Ireland is a member of the European Union and is a Eurozone member country. There are excellent air links to European capitals and flight time to London is approximately 1 hour.

Visa
If you are a citizen of Australia, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand, or USA, you do not need to apply for a student visa before arrival in Ireland.
Orientation
IAP expects you to be an active participant in preparing yourself for your study abroad experience. As a participant on an IAP program, you will receive a pre-departure orientation, either in-person or online. The type and format of this orientation will vary by program and will be provided to you upon acceptance to the program.
Upon arrival in Ireland, you will have a one-week intensive orientation and take a special module focusing on Irish History and Culture. This module includes field trips to places of historical interest.

The Irish History track is an eight week program that consists of a six-week internship placement at a leading Irish company. From business to the arts, the UCD internship team can provide a broad spectrum of intellectually engaging internships based on any field of interest, internship goals, and skills.
In addition to the internship, students are required to take a special module focusing on Irish History and Culture. This module is taught intensively during the first week of the Program. Field trips to places of historical interest are an integral component of this module.
Students will complete weekly reflective journals and write research papers to complement your internship experience. You will present one research paper as a capstone to the internship experience.
The Internship and Irish History module are each worth 3 credits, for a total of 6 UW-Madison credits.
Students who participate on the program through International Academic Programs enroll in the Irish History track program. Students interested in the International Business track program should apply through International Programs at the Wisconsin School of Business.
