Allison Dolegowski - Florence, Italy |
Studying in Florence was the most amazing experience of my life. It was challenging but at the same it was rewarding. The ability to travel every weekend was great but the best part was learning to respect and accept another culture despite its differences. |
|
BethAnne Freund - Nicosia, Cyprus/Freiburg, Germany/Rovinj, Croatia |
Study abroad has absolutely
changed my life. Because of it, I've made amazing
friends, learned about so many fascinating cultures,
improved my language skills, and even figured
out what I want to do with my life (work in study
abroad!). |
|
Christine Donahoe - Saint-Louis, Senegal |
Every meal, trip on a bus, and afternoon in class was different and new. I never knew quite what to expect. That’s how study abroad should be. |
|
Erica Van Steen - London, England (UW Semester and Parliamentary) |
Study abroad in general is
an incredible experience. It gives you the unique
chance to examine your home culture through the
lens of another. This is life changing if you
open yourself to the experience (and all that
aside, being abroad is a load of fun- meeting
new people, having adventures, and in London,
enjoying the pubs!). |
|
Jenni Young - Tianjin, China |
My time in China was a blur of non-stop, in-your-face fun! I woke up everyday not knowing where the day would take me, just trying to be prepared for whatever crazy adventure came my way. I saw the rich, the poor, the modern, and the ancient all while eating amazing food and experiencing a culture unlike any other. I studied hard, traveled hard and haven’t looked back since! |

Kali
Johnson - Ecuador, Chile, and Mexico |
It was a really unique experience studying in different countries in Latin America. I was able to travel throughout the different regions, compare local dialects and slang, and get to know distinct cultures and people.

LeeAnn
Acker - Nairobi, Kenya |
Studying Abroad in Kenya was
exactly what I needed. It woke me up to the world,
and challenged me in ways I could never imagine.
This experience opened my eyes to new a culture,
new languages, new places, and new food--what
more could I ask for? |
|
Maggie Stecich - Madrid, Spain |
For me, studying abroad was one of the most challenging, exciting, and rewarding experiences. The opportunity allowed me not only to study abroad, but to live with people from all over the world, immerse myself in a new culture, and see places and things I had only read about. I had the time of my life while in Madrid, and I definitely recommend following through with your interest in studying abroad.

Matt Niemet - Athens, Greece/Brussels, Belgium |
Living abroad was an opportunity to experience different ways of life-to immerse myself in a foreign language and appreciate the food, art, architecture and customs. I learned as much about myself as I did about my host countries.

Dana
Freiberg -
Sophia University, Tokyo |
Studying abroad was a great experience because not only did I learn more about Japanese culture, but I also was able to learn about global culture through the other exchange students I met and through travel. |
|
Elizabeth
Resnik -
London, England |
My favorite aspect of the London
program was living with other students from Wisconsin
and sharing the experience with them. I also
loved the culture in London and how it was a
modern city but also filled with so much history.
I am also interested in theatre and it was extremely
convenient to see many different plays and musicals
while in London. |

Evie
Gardner - Quito, Ecuador |
Anticipating my experience studying
abroad, I knew that I would change, develop and
learn countless valuable skills, but I never
imagined that this would be so absolutely true.
For the first time in my life, I was truly independent,
thrusting myself into a very foreign environment,
which forced me to think on my feet, adapt to
many new situations and gain a perspective as
to where I fit into the global community. Through
the various travel opportunities, the engaging
and unique courses, a new pace of life, and a
new appreciation for what I had ahead of me -
as well as my life back home - I departed Ecuador
with excellent Spanish skills and a new outlook
on life. |

Gillean
Kitchen - Aix-en-Provence, France |
Studying abroad was a unique
opportunity that allowed me to find out more
about exactly who I was and what I love. I embraced
an entirely new way of life, a new language,
and a new group of friends in France, and came
away with an unforgettable experience and friends
for a lifetime. By studying abroad I was able
to find out what I was passionate about, and
it has only strengthened my convictions in how
I want to live my life.

Leanne
Hanson - Perugia, Italy |
My study abroad experience was unique because it was just 4 weeks long. The city of Perugia is amazing and the locals are welcoming. The Umbria Jazz Festival is definitely the highlight of this program- with famous bands coming from all over the world. The city is student friendly and packed with fun things to do. 4 weeks was the perfect amount of time to live in Perugia, but my time there definitely inspired my return to Italy in the future.

Sara
MacKay - Nairobi, Kenya |
In China I climbed the Great
Wall and hiked in the Himilayan mountains, while
in South Africa I climbed Table Mountain, learned
African dance, and how to surf. Studying abroad
gave me the opportunity to try so many new things
for the first time. In South Africa I lived in
a house of 10 people from all over the world
and gained a global perspective on many different
issues. |

Sarah
McKeag - Oaxaca, Mexico |
Studying in Mexico was the best way to learn Spanish and the best way to experience the culture first hand. I’ll always have great memories from my time in Oaxaca. |
