Study Abroad Again
If you just got your feet wet with study abroad, why not study abroad again! With a variety of locations, program durations and levels of academic standing, there is another opportunity awaiting you. Explore our program page to find another program that fits your needs.
Work, Teach or Volunteer Abroad
GoGlobal!: GoGlobal, affiliated with Global Studies, offers information and advising services for students wanting to go abroad again. Visit the website to learn more.
Teach Abroad: There are many options when thinking about teaching abroad. Look into the various opportunities to find something that is right for you.
Peace Corps: Volunteer abroad after graduation. The Madison chapter of the Peace Corps offers a variety of events for interested students. Visit the website to find out about the next event or to make an appointment to speak with a recruiter.
Explore Local Organizations
Local organizations and student groups may offer opportunities to travel abroad as a representative or volunteer for their organization. Get involved with the organizations that interest you and use these networking opportunities to go abroad again.
Connect with Alumni Abroad
After graduation, update your contact information through the UW Alumni website. If you are interested in networking with alumni internationally, you can search for contacts through the International Chapters of the UW-Alumni Association. If you are living abroad, add your contact information to the “Badger Career Network”. The WAA also offers opportunities to participate in a “Vocation Vacation” where students can pair with a professional abroad to experience his/her job. This is a great way to combine an international travel opportunity with career exploration.
Research Scholarships and Fellowships
Searching for scholarships and fellowships to fund your internationally-based goals can be an overwhelming task. Start with the Grants Information Collection at the Memorial Library that offers both print and online resources. The library also holds various workshops on funding various types of initiatives and provides links to writing proposals. Don’t forget to plan ahead – from start to finish funding can take a year.
Search the Directory of International Internships
The globalEDGE International Internship Directory is a Directory of International Internships which was created by Michigan State University's International Studies and Programs. The Directory is a reference guide for students, faculty, staff, and administrators to help match students with international opportunities offered by two and four-year colleges and universities, governmental agencies, non-profit groups, private organizations, and corporations.
