Program Duration

You can participate in the program for any duration or length, as specified by your Fellowship. Durations might not exactly align with the UW-Madison semester. IAP asks you to apply for the session that most closely matches your time abroad.

UW Graduate Fellowships Research

Graduate students who receive a fellowship through the International Fellowships Office (NSEP Boren, Fulbright, Fulbright Hays DDRA or Bonn Fellow) or through the Graduate School (NSF GROW, NSF GROW with USAID) would register in this Graduate Fellowship Research program. You will work with IAP to receive credit for the research work you do abroad.


Graduate students planning to do research abroad without one of the specific fellowships listed above should apply for UW Graduate Research instead.
