Safety and Security Abroad

Health & Safety

The health and safety of students on IAP study abroad programs is a top priority of IAP. Resources and safety updates can be found on the Health & Safety web page.

International Travel, Health & Security Insurance

All students are required to enroll in international health insurance for the duration of the program. The cost of this insurance is included in the IAP program fee and enrollment in the insurance plan is facilitated by IAP staff. Visit the IAP Insurance webpage for additional information on this insurance, as well as information regarding insurance for personal property.

Emergencies

IAP is dedicated to maintaining the personal safety and security for each of our study abroad participants. Our office takes necessary precautions, remains in close contact with the program staff, and will work with them in case of an emergency. Contact us if you are concerned about your student's safety or welfare.

If an emergency comes up during business hours (8:00am - 4:30pm Central Standard Time), please call our office at 608-265-6329 for assistance.

If an emergency comes up after business hours, you can reach an IAP staff member by calling 608-516-9440. This emergency phone number is for emergencies only when the health or safety of a UW student is an issue.
